This experience is ideal if you are looking for the perfect combination of safari and immersing yourself in the local culture through an experiential tourism experience with Maasai. In 6 days we will learn about the Masai culture, we will do a two-day safari, and we will see first-hand the projects that the NGO has in place and the work it does for the poorest families in the area of Momella and surroundings, in the north of Tanzania.
The route starts near Arusha, in Momella. There we will see the NGO projects, the primary and secondary school, the medical center, and the orphanage. We will also have two days for a safari in the nearest national parks: Tarangire and Arusha.
The last few days will be spent in a unique lodge run by Maasai, where we will continue our immersion into their culture.
We will start at Kilimanjaro Airport (Arusha) where we will be picked up in a 4×4 car. We will drive off the paved road and cross several villages and areas where we will see the real rural life of the Tanzanian interior. Two and a half hours later we will arrive at the Masai area, where the community will welcome us. There we will talk with them, learn how they live, their culture, their beliefs, traditions, and their day to day life. In the morning we will enjoy one of the best views of Kilimanjaro, as we will have it right in front of us.
In addition to learning about the work of the NGO, we will go on a two-day safari in Arusha and Tarangire National Parks. During the safari, and always with patience, we will see lions, elephants, zebras, giraffes, and other wild animals that live in the Park.
If you are looking for a route that combines a few days of safari and a few days of experiential tourism with Maasai, this experience is ideal for you. With your experience you will be contributing directly to the development of the area, through the projects that the NGO carries out in the territory. Responsible tourism with a positive impact on the territory.

Our guide will pick you up from Kilimanjaro Airport and take you to Momella (2 hours drive). Once in Momella, you can choose whether you want to rest and acclimatise, or if you prefer to start your first explorations in and around the village. Your guide will accompany you and adapt to your needs. Overnight at Hillside Retreat (Momella)
After a delicious breakfast, we will visit the work of the NGO Africa Amini Alama in Momella. There you can visit the schools, the orphanage, the restaurant, the medical office, or the small sewing workshop where you can buy, if you wish, unique handmade pieces made by women of the community, who have learned to weave thanks to the NGO's training projects. You will be able to see as much as you want and you will set the pace, and then we will have lunch under a 30-metre high tree. Legend has it that this tree purifies the whole area. After recharging our batteries, we will hike to Mount Mukuru. Mukuru is a small sacred mountain and only we will be able to go there as we have the permission of the community. Overnight at Hillside Retreat (Momella)
We will get up early to go to Tarangire National Park to continue our safari. Today we will visit one of the most important parks in Tanzania, where we will be able to see elephants, zebras, and with a bit of luck lions, leopards and cheetahs.
Today we will head to the Maasai Lodge, where we will stay in huts built by the Maasai women but with the comforts of the western world, such as hot water, electricity and private bathrooms. From your room you will be able to see the immensity of Kilimanjaro and at sunrise, if the day is clear, they will bring you tea or coffee while you enjoy the view of Kilimanjaro. The Maasai will show us their songs, dances, hunting techniques and traditions. In the evening, we will gather around the fire to talk and dine together.
Early in the morning, we will go for a walk in the African savannah with a Maasai specialist in medicinal plants, during this walk we will learn about the plants of the area and their therapeutic qualities. At the end of the walk, we will return to the lodge for breakfast. After breakfast, you will be taken to the airport or pre-arranged place for your return or onward journey. That day, in addition to enjoying the pool, you will be able to rest or do the activities you want with your guide.
