Highly recommended experience: 6-day safari in Kenya so that you can enjoy the Lemek Conservation Area in the Maasai Mara without rushing.
In 6 days Kenya Safari, we will be able to spend time in this area inhabited by Maasai and animals in the wild. Here, human and wild life go in harmony, and there is hardly any separation between one and the other. We will have time to do several safaris and see the animals that inhabit the entire area, such as zebras, elephants, giraffes, lions, wildebeests or buffaloes, among many others.
Choosing Lemek and the project we contribute to in the area has an added value: in addition to doing amazing safaris hand in hand with the local community, while doing so, you will already be contributing to a social project in the area.
And not only that: Lemek is a conservation area, where there are very few lodges, and there is no overcrowding of tourists as there is in the Masai Mara National Reserve.
Here the animals live in more tranquility, and you can even get out of the 4×4 jeep and walk through the savannah, enjoy without schedules, watch sunsets or dance with Maasai around the fire in the middle of the African steppe. All just a few minutes from our lodging, without having to make long trips to see the wild fauna. In addition, in 6 days of Safari you will have enough time to see the maximum number of animals of the Masai Mara.
We will sleep in “glamping” type tents, with double bed, bathroom, electricity and hot water. It is a lodging managed by the Maasai community and where all the benefits of tourism go to the community. We will be able to see this up close, since right next to our lodging we will find the school where, thanks to tourism, the children receive a quality education in English. We will see the impact of our solidarity tourism with our own eyes.
Another social project will be to visit a Manyatta, a village where only women live. Women who, unfortunately, were separated from their families or abused and who now receive help from the NGO with which we collaborate: they are receiving vocational training and microcredits to become more economically independent, as well as medical assistance when they need it.
During our full day safari we will enjoy a meal in the middle of the savannah, and in places where there will be no one else. You may have never seen so much nature just for you, thanks to the great knowledge of our Maasai leader about the area, who will accompany you throughout your stay to places where no other guide or company will take you.
One of the most unique experiences to be had on this 6-day Kenya safari is camping on the Mara River. An activity that only we can do thanks to the fact that it is the maasais who organize it and have the necessary permission in that area. We will go to see how the hippos come out of the water at sunset and go out to eat and then they will have prepared some surprises for us, a delicious dinner and tents with all the comforts to sleep under the stars. But this will not be the only sunset we will see, we will have several days to record in our memory images like this one we show you. In addition, our guides will continue to surprise us, which will make the experience even more magical. We can’t explain everything.
During the 6-day safari in Kenya, we will not only be amazed by the wildlife in complete freedom. We will also visit two very special white rhinos. They are in danger of extinction due to poaching a few years ago. Hunting is banned in Kenya, but there are still people who seek to hunt. This is why this rhino pair is protected 24 hours a day, 365 days a year so that they can reproduce and grow the family and the species.
If our stay coincides with a Sunday, we will go to a masai mass, where they will open the doors for us and we will be one of them. We will see how they pray, sing and dance, and we will be surprised by the mixture between the most ancestral culture and Christianity. Also, depending on the days you are in Kenya, you can visit a typical local market, where goods and animals are exchanged.
The next day we will wake up and go on a “morning walking safari”, a mini walking safari. Our Maasai guide will take us to another of his favorite sites. It will be a unique experience that only we will be able to live and enjoy. Far from the tourist groups that stay in other areas of the Masai Mara.
In short, 6 days of safari and immersive tourism in Kenya that will allow us to disconnect from minute 1 of our day to day life, get to know the Maasai culture closely as we will be with them every day, and at the same time, contribute to a project that began as a dream: to create schools and training projects for the Maasai community through sustainable, responsible and conscious tourism.
PRICE FOR THE 6 DAY KENYA SAFARI: from 2.115€ / person in groups of 2 persons in low season (includes accommodation, daily allowance, safaris and government taxes, visits to a rhino sanctuary (endangered) and the activities described above, and transfers to and from Nairobi). – Check availability and prices for groups or single travelers.
The groups are private but once at the camp, if the guide considers it necessary, and depending on the occupancy and the activity, groups can be made with other travelers. For example, visit the mass masai in group, to take advantage of the same car.
Our accommodation during the 6 days will be in “glamping” tents with private bathroom and shower and, as shown in the photo, surrounded by trees and nature. The eco-lodge is within the Lemek conservation area, which belongs to the Masai Mara. To sleep and do safaris in that area, government fees are paid and are included in the price of the safari. The tents have hot water and are insulated from mosquitoes and other insects.
