Fall in love with Kenya on this safari to Lake Nakuru and the Masai Mara. 6 days of safari that together with our Maasai guides we will visit two of the most beautiful places in Africa: Lake Nakuru and the famous Masai Mara.
In addition, traveling with Trip to Help you will have a very different safari from any other typical and tourist safari, since it is the Maasai community, through an NGO, who organize the activities and dedicate the benefits of tourism to the social projects they have in the same community. This allows hundreds of children to receive quality education in English or to build wells to provide access to fresh water.
The 6-day safari in Nakuru and the Maasai Mara starts in Nairobi, where our driver will pick us up and drive us to Lake Nakuru. We will cross the Rift Valley, where we will stop to take some pictures and then continue our journey. We will arrive at Lake Nakuru for our first game drive.
Lake Nakuru Safari Tour
On our first day of safari, we will head to Lake Nakuru National Park. One of the most beautiful lakes in Kenya where we will see hundreds of birds or the endangered Rothschild giraffe. We will also be able to see the various Rhinos that live in the park. If you want to see Rhinos, this is one of the best parks in Kenya to see them.
That lake will remind us of the movie“Out of Africa”.

There we will have an afternoon safari and the next day, after breakfast, we will head to the Masai Mara National Reserve.
Safari in the Masai Mara
During the following days of our 6-day safari in Kenya, the Maasai will show us their territory. We will do several safaris in the Masai Mara and specifically, we will visit two parks: The Mara National Reserve and the Lemek Conservation Area. Both belong to the ecosystem of the Masai Mara. And although it may seem the same, the differences between doing a safari and the conservation area are very big. First of all, the number of cars and tourists, in the conservation area can only enter 15 cars per day. In the Mara National Reserve (where everyone goes) can enter hundreds of cars per day. This will allow us to see the differences between two areas that belong to the same ecosystem, one much quieter and the other (the most famous) much more full of cars.
In addition, the Lemek conservation area is managed by the local communities, where they live in total contact with nature. There we will be able to see lions, cheetahs and other animals in the wild such as giraffes, wildebeests or hyenas.

We will also have time to visit a rhino sanctuary that is guarded 24 hours and 365 days a year, due to the threat of poachers who are about to cause the extinction of this animal if it were not for the rangers and the absolute dedication that is given in these places, so that the species can survive. Afterwards we will surely see the best sunset in the world, in a unique place, in the middle of the savannah and surrounded by wild animals.

We will visit a village of Maasai women who, thanks to the NGO, have a safe place to live with their children. They are women expelled from their respective families for various reasons, and that the NGO has given them a place to live. There we will see where they live, their “bomas”, which they have made with their own hands, and we will be able to see the handicrafts they make to sell, and thus, be able to have a livelihood for themselves and their children. It is a visit where we can then buy Masai handicrafts made by them and where 100% of the sales go directly to the women (not as usual that the money is divided between driver, guide, translator etc.).

Accommodations during the safari in Kenya
As for lodging, during the 6 days of safari, we will have three different accommodations. In the Maasai Mara, we will stay at the NGO’s lodge in the Lemek Conservation area. It is a set of glamping tents with private bathrooms and hot water, which has a team of people from the Maasai tribe, who will undoubtedly get into our hearts. From our lodge we can go on safari with Maasai guides, or see the different projects of the NGO.

The night in the Mara National Reserve we will sleep in a lodge very close to the access to the park, which also belongs to a Maasai organization with several social projects.

In the Nakuru area, we can choose between several accommodations. One more premium and one more economical. The budget hotel is budgeted in the price of the trip.
